Old Fashioned Texas Pit BBQ Burgers
Prep Time: 30 minutes
Grill Time: 30 minutes
Ingredients:
- 6 (6-ounce) burger patties
- 1 to 1-1/2 cups Fischer & Wieser Texas Pit BBQ Sauce
- freshly cracked black pepper and a dash of ground red pepper, to taste
- 6 slices asadero cheese
- ½ cup Melinda’s Jalapeno Ketchup
- 6-12 slices tomatoes
- 6-12 slices iceberg lettuce leaves
- 6 good quality burger buns
- melted butter
Instructions:
Heat a grill to medium heat. Pour 1 cup of the Fischer & Wieser Texas Pit BBQ Sauce in a baking dish. Place the burger patties in the sauce, turning to coat both sides well. Grill the burgers on the grill to desired degree of doneness, basting them with more Fischer & Wieser Texas Pit BBQ Sauce each time you turn them. About 3-4 minutes before the burgers are done, place a slice of cheese on top of each burger. Open the buns and paint the insides with melted butter. Place buns, buttered sides down, on the grill rack; grill buns just long enough to lightly brown, with edges slightly crisp. Place a burger on each bun and pour some Melinda’s Jalapeno Ketchup on top. Layer on tomato slices and lettuce leaves. Serves 6.
